FAQ

Installation & Upgrade

What are the system requirements for xBlog?

The current version (10.x) requires DNN 9.8.0 or higher. See Module Installation.

How do I install xBlog?

Log in to DNN as a superuser, go to Host → Extensions, and upload DNNGo_xBlog_x.x.x_PA.zip through the Install Extension Wizard. See Module Installation.

How do I upgrade xBlog?

Install the new package over the existing one in DNN extension management — article data is preserved. Back up your site and database before upgrading.

Are updates free?

Updates are free for two years from the date of purchase and are published through the store (dnngo.net) — watch the store notifications or check the email used at purchase. After two years, the module must be purchased again to keep receiving new versions.

License

How do I activate the license?

Open the License page in the administration interface to get the Machine Key, then email your Invoice ID, Machine Key and username to [email protected]. See Activating the License.

Is the license still valid after moving a demo site to production?

Yes. If your site is a demo site, the license remains valid when it becomes your live site.

Can I import articles from other systems?

Yes. xBlog imports the xBlog proprietary format, BlogML, Wordpress XML and NewsArticle Module XML. See Export & Import.

How do I collect articles automatically from RSS feeds?

Add an RSS source in Posts → RssFeed Source and enable the schedule — articles are imported automatically (RSS 2.0 only). See RssFeed Source.

How do I prevent spam comments?

Set the initial comment state to Pending and enable reCAPTCHA v3. See Comment Settings and Captcha Settings.

How do I make article URLs SEO-friendly?

Yes. Set a security role as the Author Role in General Settings — its users can write articles, optionally under administrator review. See General Settings.

How do I send article emails to subscribers?

Select articles in the All Posts list and click Newsletter to send manually; or enable automatic subscription email in Email Settings so subscribers are notified on publish. See Email Settings.

What is the DashBoard module for?

DashBoard is a companion sub-module that displays categories, archives, tag clouds, latest articles and slideshow effects. See DashBoard Overview.

Can I customize the front-end appearance?
